The wideman took centre stage in Verona this evening

VERONA – A second half where he took centre stage: first he scored the equaliser, then his cross was diverted into the net by Dimarco, whose own goal saw Inter take the lead. When speaking to Inter TV after the match, Antonio Candreva was unable to hide the feeling of regret after the Nerazzurri dropped two points this evening: “When you draw matches, it is always the case that you could have done better. There’s a feeling of regret at not having picked up three points. We’d turned it around at a difficult place to play where many teams have struggled. Unfortunately, certain situations are continuing to go against us, but there are things we need to improve and work on.”

Inter started slowly but were a different side in the second half: “We struggled for the first 20 minutes after conceding right at the start. However, we were able to string together a few threatening moves. In the second half, we took the game to them and deserved to kill the match off and win it.”

The Italian finished off by commenting on Inter’s new post-lockdown tactical set-up: “With the attacking playmaker in a more advanced position, the Coach has asked the wide players to get into the box more. The deeper-lying midfield players don’t always make those runs forward, so it’s the widemen who need to fill the area.”
