The expansion of the programme continues with the launch of the first Inter Academy in the UK

MILAN – The Inter Academy programme has reached another milestone with the launch of Inter Academy Wales – Bangor City FC, the club’s first Inter Academy site in the UK.

The opening of Inter Academy Wales – which is to be run in partnership with Welsh football club Bangor City FC – is just the latest step in the global expansion of the Inter Academy programme, as the initiative continues to broaden its horizons despite the current crisis. The partnership with Bangor City FC will allow Inter to export the club’s training philosophy and methodology to a country that is investing heavily in the development of football and young footballers.

“We’re delighted to announce the opening of this new Inter Academy, the first in the UK,” said FC Internazionale Milano Corporate CEO Alessandro Antonello. “We’re pleased that a club with such long traditions as Bangor City FC has bought into our project and decided to join the Inter family. The partnership will facilitate mutual growth by sharing Inter’s expertise with a country that is placing great importance on the development of football.”

“I’m very pleased and proud to have signed this agreement, which stands as testament to the hard work we’re doing at Bangor City across all levels of the club, right down to the volunteers who are donating their time,” said Bangor City FC chairman Domenico Serafino. “It’s great news for us that we’ll have the chance to work with one of the top clubs in Europe. Thanks to the support of Inter, we’ll be able to unearth lots of young talent here in Wales. This initiative will help us to improve the standard of football in our country and give young footballers an opportunity that otherwise they wouldn’t have had.”

Inter Academy Wales will be open to children and young adults between the ages of six and 18.

The Inter Academy team will initially oversee the project remotely from Italy, ensuring constant contact with our partners in Wales and using webinars to provide training to local coaches and young players. On-field activities are scheduled to start in September.

The opening of Inter Academy Wales further expands the Inter Academy programme, which now features 22 permanent projects, encompassing over 20,000 young people and more than 400 local coaches around the world.
