Our Nerazzurri Youth Sector Director’s words to Inter TV after the UEFA Youth League clash with Real Madrid

NYON - Armando Madonna’s Inter saw their UEFA Youth League journey come to a close in the quarter-finals yesterday evening, as the Nerazzurri fell short of the final four with a loss to Real Madrid: “It was a balanced game up until the 60th minute, Kinkoue’s chance could have sent the game in a completely different direction,” were Inter Youth Sector Director Roberto Samaden’s words in an interview with Inter TV. “However, it’s a very high level and these games are often decided by moments. Things didn’t go our way this time with the mistake from throw-in and the subsequent penalty and sending off. Playing with a man down isn’t easy, even if the boys did give everything until the final minute.

“We should be proud of how much we’ve achieved this year, our path in the UYL was a positive one and being in the top eight teams in Europe is a fantastic achievement. Credit goes to the team and the Coach. These last few months haven’t been easy for anyone. Coming back to football was complicated for everyone. However, we had the chance to experience something incredible and we got so close to reaching the final four. The important thing is that the boys gave their all, not just today, but for the entire season. A season which saw us put in a great performance against Barcelona. That said, let’s congratulate Real Madrid for going through. We’ll go home with our heads held high and a positive attitude.”

Finally, speaking about plans for the season ahead, he concluded: “Just like every year there will be players who leave, like our captain Schiró, whose time in Nerazzurri colours will certainly be held in high regard by all. Our focal point will be Coach Madonna, who will stay with us for the season ahead. He did so well once again to help the boys grow, keeping them at the ready for any of the First Team’s needs. Like every year, we’ll restart with the same spirit and the same desire to succeed.”
