The Nerazzurri will be back in action at the Tardini at 21:45 CEST on Sunday

MILAN - Inter and Parma are set to face each other at 21:45 CEST on Sunday at the Tardini on matchday 28 in Serie A. It’ll be the 51st time that the teams have met in the Italian top flight, with the Nerazzurri having won 20, drawn 15 and lost 16 against the Crociati.

In collaboration with Opta, here are all the statistics relating to the upcoming clash.

The Nerazzurri have traditionally found it tough to play at the Tardini, with their record in Parma reading as follows: five wins, six draws 14 defeats. However, Inter celebrated their 16th Scudetto title at the same stadium: an Ibrahimovic brace in 2008 secured an unforgettable 2-0 success in 2008.

STATE OF PLAY

The Nerazzurri’s last away game in the league was in Turin in March. In that match against Juventus, Conte’s team failed to find the net after managing to score 26 goals in twelve matches on the road in Serie A prior to this.

Parma have suffered two consecutive home defeats in the league. The Ducali haven’t lost at least three successive matches at the Tardini since February 2019 (four). Their third defeat on that run came against Inter.

Parma have failed to score in their last two matches at the Tardini in Serie A: the Gialloblù haven’t gone three successive home matches without scoring in the Italian top flight since 2015.

GENERAL STATISTICS

No team has picked up more points on the road than Inter (29) this season. During the three points per win era, the Nerazzurri have only had a better away record after 13 games on one occasion: in 2006/07, when Roberto Mancini was in the Inter dugout.

Only Juventus and Lazio (both ten) have conceded fewer goals than Parma (twelve) at home this Serie A campaign.

Cristiano Biraghi became the Nerazzurri’s 16th goalscorer in the Italian top flight when he netted against Sampdoria, more than any other team in the league. So far this season, 18 different players have scored for Inter in all competitions.

PLAYER FOCUS

Before Romelu Lukaku, the last player to score twelve goals away from home in his first season in Serie A was Shevchenko in 1999/2000. The Belgian striker could become the first player to score 13 away goals in his debut season in the Italian top flight during the three points per win era.

Lukaku has scored twelve league goals on the road from 24 shots on target. Only Timo Werner (15) and Robert Lewandowski (14) can boast at having done better away from home this season in the Top 5 European leagues.

Antonio Candreva has contributed to five goals in his last four matches against Parma in Serie A (three goals, two assists). The goal he scored against the Crociati earlier on this season was the last time he found the net in the league. The same player was once on Parma’s books: he played 31 times and scored three times for the Ducali during the 2010/11 season.

Alessandro Bastoni took to the pitch 24 times for Parma in Serie A last season, scoring one goal.

Nicolò Barella made his Serie A debut against Parma in May 2015. The same applies to Sebastiano Esposito, who featured against the Crociati earlier on this campaign in October 2019.

Alexis Sánchez has had a hand in a goal in every one of his three Serie A starts this season (one goal, two assists).

Inter are the team that Gervinho has played the most matches against in Serie A: eight, level with Milan. The Ivorian striker has scored twice against the Nerazzurri, including in the reverse fixture.

Yann Karamoh made his Serie A debut with Inter (17 league appearances), while the only goal he’s scored for Parma came against the Nerazzurri earlier on this season.

Both Luca Siligardi (August 2010 with Bologna) and Roberto Inglese (September 2015 with Chievo) made their Serie A debuts against Inter.

Andreas Cornelius is the first Danish player to score double figures in a single Serie A campaign (eleven) since Jon Dahl Tomasson in 2003/04.

Ionut Radu made his first start in Serie A in May 2016 while on Inter’s books.

COACHES

Antonio Conte has faced Parma eight times in Serie A. The Inter Coach is yet to taste defeat, winning five and drawing three of those fixtures.

The only previous encounter between Roberto D’Aversa and Antonio Conte in Serie A was the draw that Inter and Parma played out earlier on in the season.

SUSPENDED

Parma: Iacoponi (1)

Inter: Skriniar (3), Conte (1, coach)

ONE BOOKING AWAY FROM SUSPENSION

Parma: Darmian, Grassi, Hernani, Laurini

Inter: D'Ambrosio, Vecino
