A dominant display by the Nerazzurri in Monza as Inzaghi's side get ready for Serie A

MONZA - Inter put the finishing touches on preparations for the new season with a convincing 3-0 win over Dynamo Kyiv in their final friendly before Serie A kicks off.

Nicolo Barella, Edin Dzeko and Stefano Sensi were the names on the score sheet in a one-sided encounter against the Ukrainian champions in Monza.

Dynamo came to Milan without their coach (and former Nerazzurri boss) Mircea Lucescu but had a near full squad to choose from and superior fitness levels, having already played three domestic matches.

That didn't seem to trouble Simone Inzaghi's side, however, who instead dominated proceedings from the off with Dzeko leading the line and Sensi in support.

Inter moved the ball around with ease, using the width of the pitch and Ivan Perisic's pace on the flank.

After a couple of chances for Stefan de Vrij and Barella, the Nerazzurri broke the deadlock with a fabulously worked goal. Barella backheeled to Milan Skriniar, who played it forward to Dzeko; the Bosnian backheeled to Sensi, who in turn backheeled for the onrushing Barella to finish with aplomb. Champagne football.

Further opportunities soon followed for Hakan Calhanoglu. from distance, Dzeko, with a volley, and Sensi, who shot wide after more fine work by Perisic.

The Ukrainians were nowhere to be seen with Samir Handanovic a virtual bystander all match long.

In the 34th minute one of Dynamo's rare forays forward presented Inter with the chance to counter and Barella played Dzeko into space. The striker nudged the ball past the onrushing keeper before firing into an empty net.

The Bosnian made way for Andrea Pinamonti at the break while Dynamo made a flurry of half-time substitutions.

The tempo dropped off in the second half but Barella was still looking lively as he went close with a header then lifted a shot over the bar.

On 56 minutes Inter almost scored a second champagne goal after a series of quick touches in the box – with Skriniar and Sensi involved – freed Calhanoglu, only for his shot to be saved on the line.

The third goal was just a matter of time and it came four minutes later: Sensi's first effort was blocked but he then tucked away the follow-up

As the match petered out, Pinamonti struck the woodwork and Danllo D'Ambrosio saw his volley thwarted, so it ended with just the three goals. More than enough to show that Inter are ready for the new campaign, when Genoa visit San San Siro at the same time (18:30) next Saturday.
