TIRASPOL - Inter registered a replica scoreline of the home victory over Sheriff in October to overtake the hosts in Group D. Despite having 13 shots on goal in the first half, Simone Inzaghi’s side were unable to get the better of Giorgos Athanasiadis, with Edin Dzeko going close on two occasions and Lautaro Martinez hitting the post with a great curling effort.

It was a different story in the second half, after Marcelo Brozovic opened the scoring with a right-footed shot to bag his first Champions League goal, thanks in part to a sensational dive by Nicolo Barella to ensure he did not block his team-mate’s strike. Milan Skriniar poked home a rebound at the second attempt to double Inter’s lead after Athanasiadis had kept out Stefan De Vrij’s header, while Alexis Sanchez made an instant impact after coming off the bench by making it 3-0 with 83 minutes on the clock. Adama Traore grabbed a late consolation for the hosts and so it finished 3-1.
