Inter march on with a seventh victory in a row and the sixth without conceding. Simone Inzaghi’s side beat Torino 1-0 at San Siro to end 2021 with a win and cementing their place at the top of the league after the first half of the season with 46 points, four more than AC Milan.
The match was decided by a goal from Denzel Dumfries in the 30th minute. It started with a great run down the left by Edin Dzeko before he crossed it in towards Marcelo Brozovic who dummied magnificently for Dumfries, whose right-footed shot was inch perfect giving him his third goal this season.
After the break Torino tried to apply the pressure. Samir Handanovic pulled off a good stop to keep out Sasa Lukic’s free kick and then towards the end Alexis Sanchez hit the post from outside the area. Inter saw the game out to clinch three crucial points and end the year on a high.
