“Tonight’s goal was a fantastic feeling. I’m happy we managed to win, even if it came down to penalties: it helps build the winning mentality we want to create. The first games are always the hardest; they’re needed to get back into rhythm, but we did well. I play alongside some incredibly strong players from whom I can learn every day. My bond with Chivu? There’s a lot of gratitude and respect – it’s a special connection. We’ve grown together, him as a coach, me as a player; it’s a great story. What kind of Inter side is taking shape? “These matches are important to be ready for the start of the season and to get some minutes in our legs. It was a great test, and we started well, focusing on being aggressive and getting the ball forward quickly – exactly what the coach is asking for. Our legs aren’t at 100% yet, but we’ll be ready for our first competitive match. I like being able to play in two positions and help the team. We are Inter, and every season we have to fight to win every competition. Last season didn’t go the way we wanted, but we want to win and will do everything possible to make it happen. Chivu is proving to be very capable. He knows how to bring the team together, and we’re training really well with the aim of enjoying a strong season.”
