The defender rues missed opportunities in the draw against Fiorentina

MILANO - Inter fought right until the final whistle to try and grab the winner against Fiorentina, but despite coming close on many occasions, they just couldn’t get the clincher. Defender Danilo D'Ambrosio played with his usual composure and desire to get the win, making excellent tackles and piercing runs forward. However, it wasn’t enough to take the Nerazzurri to victory, so instead the players were left tired and disappointed at the final result.

The Italian full-back told DAZN and Inter TV that he was pleased with the team’s desire but that they needed to make the most of the opportunities they created. “We had our chances, but unfortunately, we didn’t manage to take them. We did play well in the second half though.

“We weren’t as clinical as we needed to be, but the commitment was there, as it always is. Everyone always gives their all, whether they’re in the starting line-up or coming on from the bench.

“We were more solid a few months ago, and there was different feel about us. We have to be more ruthless if we are to get the win, and that’s what we really needed today. Moving ahead, we just need to put our heads down and work hard.”

With the international break now bringing a stop to Serie A for a couple of weeks, D’Ambrosio hopes that the team will return energised as they face Juventus in the first game back. “Now, we need to recover for when we return after the break. Games like the one against Juventus are simpler to prepare for because they are such crucial matches.”
