Three fantastic goals and three precious points. Inter emerged victorious this evening to seal a spot in the 2023/24 Champions League. In their final game of the season at San Siro, the Nerazzurri beat Atalanta thanks to goals from Lukaku, Barella and Lautaro Martinez and the determination of everyone involved. This is what Nicolò Barella and Andrè Onana had to say after the game:
“Two goals in three minutes? It was a way to send out a message. Playing against Atalanta so soon after our last match wasn’t easy, and we tried to take control straight away. We’ve had some fantastic moments and done well to turn things around in the final part of the season. We now need to finish it in the best way possible. It was important to secure a Champions League spot, and now we need to focus on Torino before the final. How has my season gone? Like Inter in the league: there have been highs and lows and matches where I could have done better, but now I feel really good and want to help my teammates in what’s to come. San Siro is San Siro and the Inter fans are the Inter fans; there’s nothing more to add.”
Nicolò Barella
“Today was like a final. It was a vital match for us, and I’m happy with what we did and the win. I always look on the bright side, both when things go well and when there are difficulties. The final? We’ll be up against the strongest side in the world, but we can compete and try to inflict damage on City. What’s certain is that Inter will do everything possible to fulfil a dream for the fans and the Club.”
