Bastoni and Zielinski: "Solidity and character: three important points"
Team
— 5 hours agoHere's what the two Nerazzurri had to say after the 2-0 win against Cremonese, on Matchday 23
A big win for Inter, who won 2-0 against Cremonese away, allowing them to remain firmly at the top of the table. Inter continue their campaign in the league, once again helped by Zielinski who scored his fourth Serie A goal, and his third from outside the box.
After the match, the Polish midfielder and Alessandro Bastoni shared their thoughts on the win.
“My best Serie A season ended with eight goals, so I’m only halfway there, but that’s fine. The important thing is contributing to the team, who scores is secondary. What matters is bringing three crucial points back to Milano. All the players are top-quality, they’re always ready and looking for chances to prove themselves. I’m happy because I’m feeling good at the moment, I’m doing my part and always trying to give my best. And of course, we’re looking forward to getting our champions back from injury.”
Piotr Zielinski
“What I’ll take from this game is the solidity we showed in getting the job done. From a quality standpoint, it probably wasn’t the best Inter we’ve seen this season, but to win leagues and long campaigns you also need matches like this, a bit scrappier, a bit tougher. We showed we could control the game even on an off day. And winning here was important, because away games against teams fighting to stay up are never easy. We knew we had to start strongly, because if these games are still goalless around the 60th or 70th minute, you start to feel the pressure and things get nervous, which makes them harder to win. The coach’s rotations are also helping us manage our energy, so hopefully we can keep going like this, both physically and mentally. My family lives nearby and a lot of my friends were in the Cremonese end. I’m not sure they’ll want to see me tonight, maybe I’ll text them tomorrow. What happened to Audero is something that must be condemned without question. I agree with what President Marotta and Lautaro have already said: these incidents should never happen. Beyond rivalries, they’re extremely dangerous and have no place in football. I want to express my full solidarity with Emil, who was also a teammate of ours, and I hope we see fewer of these incidents in the future.”
