FIRST TIME

This will be the first-ever European encounter between Young Boys and Inter. The Nerazzurri have not faced a Swiss team in a major European competition since 2004, when they eliminated Basel in the Champions League qualifiers. In that match, Inter drew 1-1 in Switzerland with a goal from Adriano and advanced to the group stage by winning 4-1 at home, featuring a brace from the Brazilian striker along with goals from Stanković and Recoba. Before this match, Inter had defeated Neuchâtel Xamax 2-0 in the UEFA Cup in September 1997, with goals from Francesco Moriero and Maurizio Ganz.

Moriero's goal has become iconic, forever etched in the hearts of all Inter fans, as it was part of the triumphant journey that led Inter to win the UEFA Cup, culminating in the final against Lazio in Paris.

NERAZZURRI WALL

Since their first season in the UEFA Champions League under Simone Inzaghi in 2021/22, the Nerazzurri have kept the most clean sheets of any team, with a total of 17, including four in the last five matches.

LAUTARO CHASING ADRIANO

After reaching a total of 133 goals, Lautaro has the chance to set another record. With his goal against Crvena Zvezda, Lautaro Martínez has now scored 13 goals in the UEFA Champions League while wearing the Inter shirt. His next goal will see him equal Adriano as the player with the most goals in the competition for the Nerazzurri.

THE DRIVE OF MEHDI

His arrival in Simone Inzaghi's squad has been very positive from the start. Mehdi Taremi is undoubtedly one of the key assets for the Nerazzurri. In the first two matchdays of this Champions League, the Iranian forward has been the player who has applied the most high-intensity pressure (160). In fact, both of Inter's goals from open play against Crvena Zvezda, in the last match came after an offensive recovery, with Taremi winning the ball back on both occasions.

THE OPPONENT: YOUNG BOYS

Young Boys are making their ninth appearance in the Champions League in their history: five in the European Cup, where they reached the semi-finals in 1958/59, only to be defeated by Reims, who would later lose to the great Real Madrid of Di Stéfano. They have won the last six consecutive championships, but their season has not started positively. The Swiss side currently sit at the bottom of the Champions League group and tenth out of twelve in the league. They are currently managed by interim coach Joël Magnin, who took over from Patrick Rahmen in early October. The most dangerous players for the Gialloneri are Itten, with 42 goals in 94 matches for Young Boys since 2022, Ganvoula, the current top scorer for the team with 4 goals in the league, and Joel Monteiro, also with 4 goals, which earned him his first two caps for the Swiss national team.
