The Inter Coach spoke after the game against Milan

Inter played well against Milan: the Nerazzurri created plenty of chances, hit the woodwork twice, and missed a penalty, eventually conceding the decisive goal to Pulisic on a Milan counter-attack. A disappointing result, but it shouldn’t overshadow Inter’s performance, as they fought hard and tried everything to find an equaliser, as highlighted by coach Cristian Chivu:

“We showed quality, focus and maturity on the pitch. Unfortunately, we hit the woodwork twice, and then they capitalised on our first mistake. But that's football. The important thing is to get back up, learn from our mistakes and keep improving, because there's still a long way to go this season. The positive is that we play again in three days, and we need to be ready mentally and physically. We have to maintain our quality while becoming more pragmatic and effective. It's frustrating only because of what we were able to create, the performance and the focus. We didn't concede any counter-attacks. The only time we lost a second ball after a long pass, they managed to reach the goal and score. That's football, but I take the positives from the players' performance. They kept trying until the end, despite the disappointment of conceding and the frustration of hitting the post and crossbar. They tried everything, we just lacked that final spark, but that's the spirit I want to see. Of course, losing a derby and suffering our fourth defeat in twelve matches is too much, but fortunately the table is still tight, and we're in it. Sommer? I know the risks we take in attack and what we concede, but I don't focus on individuals. For me, my players are the best. I see them every day giving their all and I would never point fingers. I also don't want to make excuses or assign blame, we're all in this together, for the highs and lows. Everyone could have done better, we could have broken the deadlock earlier, and managed key moments more efficiently. Our duty now is to get back up, because on Wednesday we have another important game. The goal on the break? Given the way we play, we often attack with many players, which leaves us more exposed to counters. Today we conceded one, and it decided the game. Across twelve matches so far, we've conceded very little considering the risks we take when attacking. We need to sense danger a bit more, commit a few more tactical fouls, or sacrifice a yellow card when necessary to prevent dangerous counter-attacks. Lautaro? He's fine. Why did he come off? It was a tactical choice. The players on the bench also deserve to contribute, and they've done so in the all twelve games so far. We’ve got four quality strikers. Lautaro and Thuram bring the experience, and Bonny and Pio are learning a lot from them while already playing an important role. ”
