— Aug 31st 2025The thoughts of the Inter Head Coach at the end of Inter 1-2 Udinese: "We will take heart from the reaction, now we need to work and find the right motivation to move forward well this season"
Inter were defeated by Udinese as the Friuliani came back through Davis' penalty and Atta's finish following Dumfries' opening goal. Cristian Chivu shared his thoughts at the end of Serie A 2025/26 matchday two.
“The match started well, we broke the deadlock but we weren't fluid, we couldn't create the right plays, we struggled to build up. Then, we faced our first difficult situation and conceded a penalty, from then, we lost a bit of clarity. In the second half, we reacted, we played better and with more grit. We couldn't finish the chances we made to equalise. We need to react quickly and put this behind us, we need to work and find the right motivation to restart in the best way possible. What did I say before the second half? We needed to find our clarity, change our runs compared to the first half, play more vertically and move the ball quicker: as long as we stayed lucid, we did it, but then the game changed and we tried everything to break them down and create something, but they did a great job in defence. We need to learn to manage the moments better, when we need to play well, we do so, but when we need to do the dirty work, we need to step up and do it. We're not better or worse, we're a work in progress, we need to find the right balance and keep working hard because there's still a long way to go in the league. Juventus vs Inter? There's two weeks to go, a lot of players will be on international duty and I hope that this pause gives a bit of peace and calmness. I know that when you go on international duty you can switch off a bit and you return with more motivation. Then, we will look towards the Juventus game, which is very important. ”
