The Nerazzurri head coach spoke after the 2-0 win over Lecce

Inter secured an important away win, beating Lecce 2-0 thanks to second-half goals from Mkhitaryan and Akanji. After a balanced first 45 minutes without goals, the Nerazzurri took the lead midway through the second half and doubled their advantage shortly after from a corner.

A crucial away victory that allows Inter to maintain top spot with 64 points. Here are Cristian Chivu’s thoughts after the match:

“Today we needed to make better use of our set pieces. We had plenty of them, but in the first half we didn’t take full advantage. We have two outstanding players who made the most of those situations, and Federico Dimarco, who is fantastic with his left foot, and we know we can do even better in these moments. We’re aware of the challenges in every match and that nothing comes for free. The game in Bodø proved that. Now we have to be ready for Tuesday, because qualification is still wide open. I have 24 wonderful players who always try to give their best for our journey. Marcus attacked the space well today and did some good hold-up work; Frattesi also played well. We train well and try to stay calm and keep our feet on the ground. I take the positives from what they did and I congratulate the team, because they deserve it. Dumfries has taken steps forward in recent weeks: from tomorrow he’ll officially be back training with the group and available. Calhanoglu is also progressing well, and I expect him to rejoin the squad from Monday.”
