Inter win in Udine and rise to 49 points: the Nerazzurri coach gave his thoughts after the match, decided by Lautaro Martinez's goal

A ninth consecutive positive result for Inter in the 2025/26 Serie A season, consolidating their spot at the top of the table with 49 points. Following seven wins interrupted only by the draw against Napoli, the Nerazzurri secured another three points from their trip to Udine thanks to Lautaro Martinez's decider, his 168th goal for Inter. The performance was Inter's eleventh clean sheet in Serie A this season, and marked them out as the league's most effective attack, with 44 goals scored. Cristian Chivu gave his thoughts after the match:

“The team put in a mature performance, reading each moment well, trying to be proactive, and even enduring Udinese's attack in the final minutes. That's all thanks to the players and the work we do each day. There’s a strong desire to be competitive and consistent with our work and ambitions. We aim to put our best version on the field, knowing we play every three days and have the obligation to be ready, always. Pio and Lautaro? I have four forwards who work well, complement each other, give everything for the group, and approach each day with focus, commitment, and responsibility. Our game also depends on what they do, and they’re doing an excellent job. Akanji in front of the three central defenders at the end? It’s an extra option, especially when we need to suffer and the opponents send long balls in the final minutes. Lately, the whole team has been working brilliantly in defense, with great attention and responsibility, from pressing high to maintaining the mid-block. There’s a huge desire to continue to work, to push the project forward. These players have an incredible eagerness to be competitive and carry the season forward. What we’re showing is a reflection of their commitment and their willingness to adapt, because it’s not easy to get inside their heads and change habits. We defend high, press with the forwards, and through their work, the pressure from behind, and the intensity and courage of our midfielders to go into duels, as well as the defenders’ bravery to hold a high line, we're working well. The commitment and determination of this group is incredible. I congratulate them because everyone has made themselves available, trying to carry out our ideas and push the season forward.”
