PREVIOUS MEETINGS

There have been 28 top-flight encounters between these two sides, with the Nerazzurri enjoying a clear upper hand: 19 wins for Inter, 6 for Como and 3 draws. The recent trend is even more one-sided: Inter have won the last nine meetings, keeping a clean sheet in each of the last five.

For Como, it is statistically their toughest opponent in Serie A: no team has beaten them more often or scored more goals against them. Their only win at San Siro dates all the way back to 1950, and since then, Inter have claimed 13 straight home victories.

Now the league’s most prolific attack comes up against one of the strongest defences – level with Roma – in a matchup that promises a tight balance between solidity and quality.

NERAZZURRI STATS

Chivu’s side have collected 27 points from their opening 13 league fixtures. It is just the third time in Inter’s Serie A history that the team have reached this stage of the season without recording a single draw.

Possession will be one of the tactical keys to this contest: Como and Inter lead Serie A in this metric, both averaging over 60%. The two sides also rank among the best in the league for attacking recoveries, a clear indication of their aggressive press and intensity off the ball. Inter top the charts for long passing sequences – more than any other team in the competition – as well as for open-play crosses.

Another factor not to overlook is the impact in the final half-hour: only Inter have scored more goals than Como in the last 30 minutes of matches, a sign of two teams capable of sustaining tempo, aggression and conviction right to the end.

LAUTARO, THURAM AND THE MILESTONES WITHIN REACH

Saturday’s match could mark a significant personal milestone for Lautaro Martínez: it may become his 150th direct goal involvement in Serie A, as the Inter captain currently sits on 121 goals and 28 assists. The challenge against Como offers another potential record for him: the Lariani remain one of the very few sides he has faced without finding the net; scoring this weekend would make them the 30th different opponent he has scored against in the league – a landmark no Inter player has ever reached.

Marcus Thuram has the opportunity to make history as well. A goal against Como would allow him to overtake Youri Djorkaeff and become the highest-scoring French player in Inter’s Serie A history. He has already scored against Como in his only previous league meeting with them and heads into the match on top form.

DIMARCO, AN EXTRA FORWARD

Federico Dimarco’s energy and precision remain one of Inter’s most reliable weapons. No player has created more chances in Serie A this season – 34 in total – confirming his status as a constant attacking outlet down the left flank.

With one more assist, Dimarco would join an exclusive club: he would become only the second defender to provide at least five assists in three consecutive Serie A campaigns since Opta records began, following in the footsteps of Maicon.

THE OPPONENT: COMO

Como arrive at San Siro as one of the most in-form and best-organised sides in the league. Under Cesc Fàbregas they have built a clear identity, combining structure, intensity and quality in possession.

The Lariani currently sit fifth in the table on 24 points, the result of six wins and six draws, with 19 goals scored and just seven conceded.

Recent form is impressive: 11 points from their last five league games. Como beat Verona 3–1 at home, swept Torino aside 5–1 on the road, and defeated Sassuolo 2–0 back at the Sinigaglia. The two remaining results in the run were goalless draws against Napoli and Cagliari, further proof of their defensive solidity.

For the trip to Inter, Fàbregas is expected to continue with his 4-2-3-1. Butez should start in goal, with a back four of Smolčić, Diego Carlos, Ramón and Moreno. Perrone and Caqueret will likely hold the midfield, while Addai, Paz and Rodríguez operate behind Douvikas as the lone striker.
