— May 6th 2025The post-match thoughts of the Nerazzurri midfielder, who scored a truly historic goal
The decisive strike in one of the most unforgettable nights in Inter's history: Davide Frattesi is not a man for ordinary goals. We can’t quite explain why, but when the game really matters, when our opponents are tough and when the pressure mounts, Davide is there, as if he already knows what’s going to happen on the pitch. Instinct, character, grit, heart: there’s a bit of all of this in his innate ability to make an impact and leave his mark at decisive moments, as was also the case in Munich during the first leg of the quarter-finals. It's a city that Inter will visit again very soon, and the occasion will be the Champions League final, which Inter reached thanks to the Italian's 99th-minute winner against Barcelona. This is what he had to say after the game:
“I was lucky to make it to the end of the game because I really celebrated a lot. I also have to thank the physiotherapists because I had some discomfort, and we did a great job to get me fit for tonight. During the warm-up, I was looking at the security fence behind the goal, and I asked myself if maybe something could happen tonight... It was an incredible match, I can’t describe it in words. After Munich, I thought I wouldn’t experience emotions like that again, but tonight something even more extraordinary happened. That’s the beauty of football. I believe scoring is part of my career. I’ve never given up and I’ve always believed, and this is the reward for my determination. At 3-3, I kept telling Marcus that we would go through. I came on, and it was like I’d been playing the whole time because we were constantly on our feet on the sidelines. Things happen when you deserve them: this is an incredible group, and we’ve been working non-stop since September. Someone up there is watching these things, and nights like these stay with you forever.”
