Another night of international football with Inter involvement. Two Nerazzurri players took to the pitch for their national teams in Wednesday's friendlies: Pio Esposito and Piotr Zielinski.
Italy, coached by Silvio Baldini during this friendly window, claimed a 1-0 away win against Luxembourg, with Pio Esposito scoring the only goal of the game. The match, played at the Stade de Luxembourg in Luxembourg City, saw the Inter forward named in the starting line-up. Pio secured victory for the Azzurri with a fine header in the 49th minute from a cross by Roma's Pisilli. Esposito's evening came to an end in the 76th minute when he was replaced by Camarda. It was Pio's fourth goal in eight appearances for Italy. The striker has become only the third player in history to score more than three goals for the Azzurri before turning 21, following Giuseppe Meazza (11) and Gianni Rivera (5). Italy will next be in action on Sunday 7 June when they take on Greece in Heraklion.
Poland salvaged a late draw in their friendly against Nigeria in Warsaw. At the PGE Narodowy, the visitors took the lead through Moffi before Potulski levelled the score before half-time. Nigeria regained the advantage after the break when Onuachu converted from the penalty spot, but Wisniewski's goal in the fifth minute of added time ensured it finished 2-2. Piotr Zielinski started for Michał Urban's side and played 89 minutes before making way for Czubak, who made his senior debut. Poland end their international break with a draw and a defeat, and will not feature at the World Cup this summer.
