The prestigious award was granted on the recommendation of the University’s Department of Economics, Quantitative Methods, and Business Strategy.

The recognition for the honorary degree was as such: “Over his 40-year-long career, Giuseppe Marotta has managed to combine sporting excellence and economic sustainability, guiding sporting clubs to success and promoting ethical models of business management. His commitment to developing sporting and personal growth is particularly admirable, both in the development of competitive teams and in creating educational projects for young athletes, showing clear examples of the integration between a sporting career and education. Today, Giuseppe Marotta is a role model in the evolution of Italian football, and his work fully embodies the values of our degree, exemplifying the development of business skills, marketing, and global communication in which the sport’s sector operates.”

At the ceremony, alongside Inter’s top management, several leading figures from football, sport and public institutions were in attendance. Among them were Katherine Ralph, Managing Director for Global Opportunities Strategy at Oaktree; Luigi De Siervo, CEO of Lega Serie A; Giovanni Carnevali, CEO and General Manager of Sassuolo Calcio; Umberto Marino, General Manager for Institutional Affairs at Atalanta; Adriano Galliani; Ariedo Braida; former Varese President Guido Borghi; Bruno Megale, Police Commissioner of Milano; and Vittorio Bosio, National President of CSI.

Over the years, Giuseppe Marotta has proved himself as one of the most important figures in sports and business management. His vision and ability to innovate business models can be a true source of inspiration for those preparing to take on the challenges of the future.”
