Inter were defeated at San Siro by Arsenal on matchday seven in the League Phase of the Champions League. The game ended 3-1 to the Gunners, who continue their perfect record at the top of the standings. For the Nerazzurri, it's their third defeat in Europe: they sit on twelve points, with one match still to play in the League Phase, on Wednesday 27 January away to Borussia Dortmund.
Arsenal began aggressively, and after just ten minutes, Gabriel Jesus was quick to convert Timber's effort. Inter responded in the 18th minute with a beautiful equaliser from Sucic: a right-footed strike from outside the box that went into the top corner. Inter continued pressing and came close to taking the lead several times, but Arsenal took the lead again in the 31st minute. Gabriel Jesus nodded in his second of the evening, taking advantage of one of the English side's strengths, a corner.
Inter continued to fight, giving it their all to find an equaliser, which would have been well deserved. After coming on, Esposito came close twice. In the final moments, Arsenal pushed forward once again, thanks in part to their late substitutions, and after a quick counter, Gyokeres fired an excellent shot from the edge of the box to make it 3-1.
