Inter claim their first draw of the season, finishing 2-2 at San Siro against Napoli in Matchday 20. The Nerazzurri took the lead twice, only for McTominay to equalise on both occasions. Dimarco’s brilliant left-foot strike put Inter ahead in the 9th minute, and Chivu’s side dominated early, creating chances while Napoli focused on defending. But the visitors struck on their first attack, with McTominay scoring in the 26th minute.
The second half was trickier for Inter, but they went ahead in the 73rd minute after VAR awarded a penalty for Rrahmani's foul on Mkitaryan. Calhanoglu was unstoppable from the penalty spot to make it 2-1. The atmosphere at San Siro was electric, but Napoli equalised again in the 81st minute once again through McTominay. Lang flicked the ball into the box from the touchline, and McTominay finished brilliantly. In the final moments, Inter had a huge chance to snatch it. Mkhitaryan fired with his right boot in the box, slightly deflected, but it rattles the post.
The game ended 2-2, Inter’s first draw of the season, leaving them on 43 points after 19 games. With the same number of matches played, Milan sit on 40 and Napoli on 39, the same as Roma, who have played 20 games. The Nerazzurri will be back in action at San Siro on Wednesday, January 14 at 20:45 CET for their postponed Matchday 16 clash against Lecce.
