A night to remember for Alessandro Bastoni, who scored Inter’s first goal of the 2025/26 season. His header in the 18th minute started the Nerazzurri show against Torino, with Inter eventually running out 5-0 winners at San Siro. Bastoni also made an impact later with a perfect assist for Marcus Thuram in the second half, sending in a left-footed cross for the Frenchman to head home and make it 4-0.

After the match, the defender gave his thoughts on Inter's commanding win on the opening matchday:

“We were eager to bounce back after a difficult end to last season. Football gives you the chance to make up for it, and we couldn’t wait to start in the best possible way, so we’re delighted with the win. The goal? It was important because it gave us the lead and set us on the way to victory. I dedicate it to my daughter, who was at the stadium for the first time. The kiss was for her. We hoped to perform this well, and our quality really came through. There are 37 games to go, and, as the coach says, we’ll take to the pitch to win them all. It was important to send a strong signal from the start. That’s our goal: we’re here and full of determination to make amends. The team are alive and kicking, the desire is there, and there’s real cohesion in the squad. Many players came on today and gave us a real lift.”
