The German defender's comments, playing as a centre-back in the win against Fiorentina

Ninety minutes of composure and focus against a quality opponent like Moise Kean: Yann-Aurel Bisseck displayed an outstanding performance at the heart of the defence, a position the 2000-born defender doesn't usually play in.

Bisseck shared his thoughts in the post-game interview:

“It's a long road ahead this season, and we know that every game is very important. There's always room to improve, but tonight we're happy: we defended well and created lots of opportunities. We still need to improve in creating chances, but overall, it was a positive performance. I'm always happy to play and help the team, and to have the coach's trust. I think I did well today. This is a new role for me, playing centrally. There's less to do offensively, and I have to stay very focused because sometimes it's just me against the striker. I need to provide a lot of coverage for the team, but I think that, because of my physicality, I can maintain a high defensive line, and the position suits me. I played for 90 minutes, and I think it went well. Chivu is a very approachable coach, even off the field. You can talk to him about anything, even stuff outside of football. He's doing an excellent job: if we execute what he asks of us, we will have a great season.”
