An early assist for Dumfries, a few bursts forward, and chances created: like the rest of his teammates, Marcus Thuram tried everything in the match against Udinese. It was an unfortunate game for the Nerazzurri, who fell to defeat on matchday 2 of the Serie A season. The Frenchman had the following to say after the game:
“We played against a very aggressive team. We scored early, but then they hit back with their two goals. We did everything we could to try to turn it around, and the coach tried all the options. It’s true that we dropped off a bit after the equaliser. Udinese are a very physical side who played direct and made things difficult for us. We performed well after the restart but were unlucky. In the end, the positive takeaway is our reaction. It’s only the second match of the season, so we mustn’t get discouraged. We knew it would be tough, as every game will be. The season is very long - we told ourselves that after the match. We need to start every game the way we did the second half. Pio Esposito and Bonny? They’re young, but they have a lot of experience at a high level and will be a big help. They learn quickly, and, as you’ve seen, they’re very impressive. Now, there’s the international break, and then we’ll return to Inter to properly prepare for the game at Juventus.”
