The thoughts of Alessandro Bastoni and Tajon Buchanan after the 2-0 league victory over Como

A precious victory for the Nerazzurri in their final match at San Siro in 2024. Over 70,000 fans were in the stands to support Inzaghi's Inter, who beat Como 2-0 thanks to goals from Carlos Augusto and Thuram. The Nerazzurri now sit on 37 points ahead of their upcoming trip to Cagliari, after which they'll fly to Saudi Arabia for the Supercoppa Italiana.

Alessandro Bastoni played in the heart of defence together with Bisseck (and then De Vrij) and Carlos Augusto, with the Nerazzurri keeping another clean sheet and extending their winning run to four matches in Serie A.

“We’re very happy; our fans can enjoy a nice Christmas. We took to the pitch fully aware that all the other top teams had won, and, for that reason, we wanted to send a message. We put our hearts into it and used our heads to come away with the win. Como are a well-organised team, and we were a bit frantic at the start. We perhaps didn’t expect Como to be so aggressive, but the Coach told us to stay calm and everything went well. I played in the centre of defence, but I’ve done that before. I know that it’s more about how I feel on the pitch than the system used. We’re a great group, and we’re eagerly waiting for our injured players to return because they’re important for us. We have a lot of games in quick succession, so it’ll be important to get as many players back fit as possible.”

Tajon Buchanan got further precious minutes under his belt after replacing Federico Dimarco in the second half of Inter vs. Como. The Canadian wing-back also spoke to Inter TV:

“I feel good, I’m happy when I can get on the pitch and help the team. I’ve been out for a long time, and it takes a while to get back into optimum shape, but everything is going as well as can be expected. The more I play, the better I feel, and I’m working hard in this direction. It was certainly a complicated match today; they pressed us a lot. However, the goal at the start of the second half allowed us to control play, and we’re happy to have come away with the three points.”
