— Oct 23rd 2024A vital victory on matchday 3 of the UEFA Champions League: post-match comments
“It was an open game, and we should have done better at the start. We didn’t make the most of our opportunities and they grew in confidence, but, in the end, we came away with a great victory against a side in good shape. We’ll take that. There are never any easy games in the Champions League, and when a match gets complicated, it’s difficult to get back on the right track. However, we managed to do this and are delighted.”
Nicolò Barella
“It was a tough match. We knew it’d be difficult to play on this pitch, which Young Boys are more used to than we are. It was a must-win game, so this victory is really important. I think they had some good chances because we lost possession too easily, but we also created opportunities. In the end, I think we deserved the three points. As regards the penalty, that’s football for you. You can miss a penalty, but we remained focused and created more chances. Now, we need to focus on our next game.”
Yann Sommer
“It’s a very important win. We continued to believe and came away with a victory late on. We know that we need to put in the hard work: although we kept a clean sheet, they had chances. We needed to dig in, but we did well to stay in the game and go on to win it. Now, we’ll start to look ahead to our match against Juventus on Sunday.”
