— Jan 26th 2025The thoughts of the Nerazzurri head coach after the four-goal victory over Lecce
Inter produced a fantastic display to run out 4-0 winners away to Lecce. It was a match where the Nerazzurri's determination was on full display, and, thanks to these three points, Simone Inzaghi has become the fastest head coach to record 200 wins in Serie A. This is what he had to say after the game:
“This evening, we played well and approached the match in excellent fashion against a team in good shape. I’m happy to have reached 200 wins in Serie A, but I need to thank my players and the Club, who have put me in a position to reach this milestone. We knew it’d be a difficult match today, but we were aggressive and determined. Lecce had only lost once in their previous six home matches, and that was to Lazio. They tried to press us high, but we knew we could look for our strikers in behind. We’ve been playing three games per week for the last five months, and, for example, I was sorry I couldn’t get Arnautovic on the pitch today. The secret is to try to make everyone feel important. It’s great to be able to coach Lautaro and Thuram; I like how they sacrifice themselves for the team. They work hard for their teammates and don’t just go looking for goals. When we don’t have the ball, the way they go about things is perfect. Their numbers are excellent because they’re part of a great team of players who put them in a position to do well. Compared to our match in Prague, we made five changes today, and the team managed to win thanks to a strong performance. I got some excellent answers. We need to keep on going without giving an inch.”
