Pio Esposito wins Best Italian Golden Boy Award

A prestigious award celebrating all his talent, Pio Esposito has been named Best Italian Golden Boy. The award is presented by Tuttosport to the best Italian Under-21 player of the year. The Inter striker has been won of the standout players of the season so far that has been full of emotion and personal milestones. After an outstanding year with Spezia, where he scored 19 goals in 39 Serie B appearances, Pio returned to Inter in June 2025 to take part in the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States. He made his debut for Inter on June 21 against Urawa Red Diamonds. A few days later, he scored his first goal for the Nerazzurri in the 2-0 win over River Plate and was named Player of the Match.

He kicked off the 2025/26 season with his Serie A debut against Udinese, and a few weeks later he played in his first Champions League game, winning against Ajax. His first league goal came against Cagliari, followed by his first goal in a European competition on October 21 in the 4-0 victory over Union Saint-Gilloise. That goal made him the third youngest scorer in Inter’s Champions League history, behind Balotelli and Martins.

So far this season, Pio has made twelve appearances, scored two goals and provided one assist. In August 2025, he also earned his first senior national team call-up for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. He made his debut for Italy of September 5, aged 20, coming on as a substitute in the 5-0 win over Estonia. In the return leg in Tallinn, he scored his first international goal. A brilliant debut marking the start of his journey with the Azzurri.
