Pio 2032: a Nerazzurro story

Power, composure, an instinctive eye for goal and a debut season in which he left an indelible mark on the Nerazzurri's triumphs, followed by a second campaign that has begun in spectacular fashion: Pio Esposito has wasted no time in carving out an important role in Inter's play and in the hearts of the fans. Bringing his outstanding physical and technical qualities to the team, he has scored crucial goals and played a decisive part in the Double won by Chivu's side in 2026. An all-Nerazzurri story is ready to add new chapters, with the striker extending his contract with the Club until 2032.

The story between Pio and Inter goes back a long way, to 2014 to be exact, when the striker, born in Castellammare di Stabia on 28 June 2005, joined the Nerazzurri youth academy and first wore the colours in which he would grow into the player he is today. His journey saw him work with Cristian Chivu, under whom he developed with the Under-14 side, before reuniting with him in the Primavera during the 2021/22 season. After two years on loan at Spezia in Serie B, where he made his professional debut, Pio returned home and immediately made his mark. His First Team debut came at the FIFA Club World Cup on 21 June 2025 against Urawa Red Diamonds, while he only had to wait until his second match, against River Plate, to score his first official goal.

Pio's season was one of firsts: his Serie A debut on 30 August 2025, his first unforgettable moments on the San Siro pitch, and his first league goal away to Cagliari, celebrated with a display of pure joy and passion. He also made his first Champions League start at the iconic Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam, as the Nerazzurri claimed a 2-0 victory away to Ajax. His development was constant, with Chivu placing his trust in him both from the start and off the bench. Pio repaid that faith with decisive goals, including the one against Lecce on 14 January 2026, his first Serie A goal at San Siro after he had already given the Meazza something to celebrate for the first time in the 5-1 Coppa Italia win over Venezia. A true poacher's finish from a centre-forward who seems to have spent his entire life in the penalty area, it was a goal worth three crucial points. In the second half of the season, Pio raised his level even further, scoring hugely important goals against Juventus and Pisa with two wonderful headers, before also finding the net against Atalanta, Fiorentina and Bologna. He finished the campaign with 48 appearances, 10 goals and six assists in all competitions, before lifting the Scudetto and Coppa Italia as a key protagonist.
