Piovani: "We will bounce back from this. In a week we'll be back to turn it around."
Inter Women
— Nov 12th 2025The Nerazzurre coach and Lina Magull spoke after Hacken vs. Inter
Despite a strong performance, Inter Women ended the first leg of the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup Round of 16 with a defeat. The Nerazzurre created chances and played well, but they were unable to recover from the setback, after an unfortunate own goal by Rúnarsdottir from Tindell's cross just four minutes into the game. The return leg will take place on Wednesday, November 19 at 18:30 CET at the KONAMI Football Centre, offering Inter the chance to turn the result around and reach the quarter finals. Here's what Coach Piovani and Lina Magull had to say after the game:
“It was an undeserved defeat in my opinion, the team played really well. We had the right attitude with compact lines, aggression and determination. Hacken are a very strong side, but we manage to create three or four good chances to equalise, and there was also a clear penalty that wasn't given - but that's football. We're still in it and we will work to turn it around next week at home. As a coach, after seeing a performance like that, I can only be satisfied. Of course, it's disappointing to lose, but I saw the team fight back and play real football, and that's encouraging. That's why I believe we have every chance to overturn the result next week and advance. For now, we'll focus on Sunday's game against Napoli, a really important game for us, and then we'll think about the return leg. ”
Gianpiero Piovani
“We were unlucky with the goal we conceded but we reacted well today, we played as a team, with aggression and confidence. I believe we'll have our chances next week in the return leg. ”
