— May 6th 2025Frattesi, Dimarco, Dumfries and Sommer: interviews following the 4-3 victory over Barcelona
An amazing night and a fantastic match that saw Inter run out 4-3 winners against Barcelona in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final tie between the teams. The Nerazzurri have progressed to the final, which will be held on 31 May in Munich. Here is what several of those involved had to say after tonight's epic encounter:
“I was lucky to make it to the end of the game because I really celebrated a lot. I also have to thank the physiotherapists because I had some discomfort, and we did a great job to get me fit for tonight. It was an incredible match, I can’t describe it in words. After Munich, I thought I wouldn’t experience emotions like that again, but tonight something even more extraordinary happened. That’s the beauty of football. I believe scoring is part of my career. I’ve never given up and I’ve always believed, and this is the reward for my determination. At 3-3, I kept telling Marcus that we would go through. I came on, and it was like I’d been playing the whole time because we were constantly on our feet on the sidelines.”
Davide Frattesi
“We did something incredible. I’m speechless. We were two goals up, then behind, and then we went ahead again. It was a crazy match and a wonderful Champions League night. We know we’ll face strong opponents, but going to the final to win feels like the norm for us now. Tonight, we were a true team; we were united from start to finish. We did a great job staying focused. There’s no stadium like San Siro – it was amazing. The Coach shows us the way, and he always does it well. Even in tough moments, he breaks the tension with a joke – that’s his strength. He deserves a lot of credit because after that first year when we missed out on the Scudetto, we’ve now reached this point. I really care about this team and try to support my teammates even from the bench. I feel a strong sense of belonging. Now, we need to enjoy this win and the wait for the final.”
Federico Dimarco
“An incredible and extraordinary match. I’m very proud of the team, and now we’re heading to the final. On a personal level, I had two good games – I gave everything for the team and I’m really happy. We’ll find out tomorrow who we’ll face in the final, but now we want to win this trophy.”
Denzel Dumfries
“I’m very happy. It was an amazing match, and the team have gone on an extraordinary journey. The toughest save was the last one, because Yamal is really strong and always comes inside to shoot. We studied his way of taking quick shots even after the first leg. We fought, we defended with strength, and it was fantastic to save that shot. It gave us great confidence for the final minutes. I can only say that we always believe until the very last second of play. I couldn't be happier. We work for these moments, for these matches. I'm here with this wonderful team, and we’re in the Champions League final. It's amazing.”
Yann Sommer
“I’m truly happy and proud of the incredible journey we’ve been on. We’ve reached another final after two spectacular matches, and I’m delighted. We gave everything we had, putting our hearts into it, and we showed that we are a united group. We’re happy with what we’ve accomplished. San Siro has always brought us so much joy, and the fans have always been there for us. From the moment we arrived on the bus, we knew what awaited us, and these results are also thanks to them.”
Matteo Darmian
“An incredible feeling. The team truly deserves this achievement. It’s a wonderful group, and I simply have to thank everyone because the group made the difference; that’s why we won. These are the matches that every child dreams of playing in. I’m so happy, and we deserve all of this. We’re in a Champions League final thanks to the incredible journey we’ve been on, and now we’ll play to win it.”
Carlos Augusto
“We’ve always believed, and I’m very proud of the team. It’s a feeling that’s hard to describe; we’ve done something amazing. It’s not over yet – we still have one more match to play, and we’ll give our all. We need to take it one game at a time, and we still have things to do in the league. But we’ll be ready for the final. We’ve beaten great teams, but we’re also a great team, and we’ve shown how strong we are. Now, let’s see what happens.”
Yann Bisseck
“It’s an incredible feeling. Our approach was good, and we played very well. We have great respect for Barcelona, which is an amazing club. It was wonderful because every player dreams of playing in a Champions League semi-final, especially in a game of this magnitude. When I arrived, I immediately saw a strong and united group, a great family. Our goal has always been to reach the Champions League final.”
