Inter President and CEO, Giuseppe Marotta, kicked off the official Open Media Day ahead of the UEFA Champions League final, which will see PSG take on Inter in Munich on Saturday 31 May.
The day at the BPER Training Centre in Appiano Gentile - featuring official press conferences, interviews and an open training session for Italian and international media - began with an address from the President and CEO.
“We’re approaching a historic and prestigious match: the final of the most important football competition in Europe. We’re here for the second time in three seasons, and we got here thanks to the hard work and sense of belonging that Inter has always shown in every situation. The credit for this journey goes to the coach and the team. A few months ago, the new ownership came in. Since then, they’ve provided consistent support in running our operations. My thanks go to my colleagues, both on the Sporting side and the Corporate side: everyone has put in tremendous effort, and it’s extraordinary to be in the final again. We reached the Coppa Italia semi-finals and very narrowly missed out on the league title. It was such a small margin, but that’s the nature of the sport we love. Compared to our opponents, we’ve played 19 more matches - the equivalent of half a season. That means we've expended a lot of energy, and the physical and mental toll is significant. Despite that, the coach and his staff have brought us this far. We’ve overcome world-class opponents like Bayern Munich and Barcelona - this is truly the most prestigious competition. It’ll be the seventh final in this Club’s history, and we want to make our mark. We mustn’t be arrogant, but ambitious. We embrace challenges and face them head-on. We’ve reached the final on merit, and we once again have the chance to represent our nation in Europe, which is a source of great pride. We want to make our fans proud - they’ve been with us every step of the way this season.”
