The Inter boss has been named Coach of the Year in Serie A for the 2023/24 season

Simone Inzaghi was conferred the Manlio Scopigno Prize as the Coach of the Year in Serie A in 2023/24.

The award was given to the coach because "he stood out for his sportsmanship, preparation, class, conduct with the media and ability to bond with his team. He combined professional skills with human and sporting qualities." All of these traits defined Manlio Scopigno - the coach who led Cagliari to the Scudetto in 1970 - throughout his career and have made him a role model for Italian coaches ever since.

The Inter boss had this to say during the event in CONI's Salone d'Onore in Rome, remembering also receiving the Best Youth Coach award in 2014 when he was in charge of Lazio Primavera:

“It's great to receive an award like this one. I was fortunate enough to win it when I was the Primavera coach and now I have won it in first-team football. The award is dedicated to two people: Manlio Scopigno and Felici Pulici, the latter of whom was a really important figure in my career. He helped me a lot when I joined Lazio from Piacenza as a youngster in 1999. Today, among other things, it would also have been Tommaso Maestrelli's birthday; I saw his son recently, so he is in my memory. I share in this award with my staff, the players and the Club, which has put me in the position to be able to win this important prize.”
