— Sep 24th 2025Young people from 30 oncological paediatric centres from all over Europe are in action in a tournament organised by Inter alongside CSI Milano, Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori and AIEOP with the support of BPER, Fondazione Bianca Garavaglia, FIAGOP and SIOPE
FC Internazionale Milano are once again helping in the organisation of the sixth edition of the Winners Cup, the only tournament in the world dedicated exclusively to boys and girls undergoing treatment or discharged from pediatric oncology wards. It will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Sandro Pertini Sports Centre in Cornaredo. The tournament is organised by FC Internazionale Milano, CSI Milano, Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori and AIEOP, with the valuable support of BPER and the backing of Fondazione Bianca Garavaglia, FIAGOP e SIOPE.
Inter are preparing to accompany the participants throughout two event-filled days, which will use intense sport as a universal language which can unite, inspire and give strength. The tournament is able to help those who face extraordinary challenges everyday with immense strength.
The event transforms sport into an homage to life, celebrating the true ‘champions’—those who face the toughest challenge every day with a smile and the will to win. This year, there will be 16 teams taking part from regions all over Italy and from hospitals from all over Europe, including Spain, The Netherlands, Germany and Greece: a playing field where courage is worth more than any trophy, and where every pass and goal, tells a story of strength and hope.
“The Winners Cup is one example that best expresses the true sense of sport. Regione Lombardia fully supports this tournament, because it shows that sport is not just a competition, but an instrument for rebirth, socialising and personal and collective growth. ”
Federica Picchi, Sottosegretario con delega Sport e Giovani di Regione Lombardia
“The Winners Cup is a great occasion, but for us Doctors, it is a chance to shine a light on the clinical problems faced by young people. Here, sport becomes a powerful tool allowing the young people to find themselves and share their stories, but also to show everyone that everyone can be healed if they receive the right care in the right ways. ”
Prof. Andrea Ferrari, oncologo pediatra dell’Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori di Milano e coordinatore del Gruppo di Lavoro Adolescenti AIEOP
“The Winners Cup is huge. Their are so many new teams: each team is matched by a team from the CSI; on Saturday evening, at the end of the tournament, there will be a big party for all of the athletes; the medical directors of the teams will be able to form important friendships thanks to moments of sharing and unity. The biggest thing, though, is a confirmation that sport can do incredible things, like this tournament. ”
Massimo Achini, Presidente CSI Milano
“The Winners Cup is an important event that goes beyond the value of a sporting tournament. It's an initiative that spreads togetherness, solidarity and confidence for these young people who are facing difficult and testing challenges. The participation of 16 teams from all over Europe, is the best testimony to the Winners Cup, showing that it has a great strength in contributing to constructing a system of support and collaboration. ”
Luca Gotti, Direttore Regionale Lombardia Ovest di BPER
“Seeing the young people playing, laughing and moving without physical or mental barriers at the Winners Cup, will be an amazing experience. It's a concrete example of the fact that life can continue, even in the difficult moments, and that can resilience can be trained, just like a muscle. ”
Sergio Aglietti, Presidente di FIAGOP
