World Cup opener against Saudi Arabia ends in defeat for the Albiceleste in Qatar
An unfortunate World Cup opener for Lautaro with Argentina. In Qatar, the Albiceleste were defeated 2-1 by Saudi Arabia. After Messi scored a penalty in the first half, the Saudi team turned the game around in the second half with goals from Al Shehri and Al Dawasari.
Lautaro, who started with the number 22 shirt, remained on the pitch for the entire match, making his first World Cup appearance (match number 41 for Argentina). The Inter striker managed to score in the first half, a nice touch past the keeper: but the goal was ruled out due to a marginal offside. Argentina will be back in action on Saturday at 20:00 CET against Mexico.
