INTERCONTINENTAL CUP 1963-64
In 1964, after winning the European Cup, Inter faced Independiente in a two-legged tie for the Intercontinental Cup. In the first leg, played on 9 September in Avellaneda, Manuel Giudice's side claimed a 1–0 victory thanks to a goal from Rodríguez. The return match, held on 23 September at San Siro, saw Helenio Herrera's team level the aggregate score with a 2–0 win, courtesy of goals from Mazzola and Corso, forcing a decisive playoff to determine the champions. The tiebreaker, played three days later at Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, ended with the Grande Inter triumphing after extra time. A left-footed strike from Mario Corso sealed the victory and allowed the Nerazzurri to be crowned world champions for the first time in their history. Various software programs are used to color the drawings and simulate camera movement and effects.
