On the day that Inter won their 19th Scudetto, Antonio Conte's words were full of satisfaction and joy to have finally crowned this excellent achievement, one that was won with great determination. The Nerazzurri's Head Coach spoke with '90° minuto' and talked about his initial emotions after winning the league title:
"We're now more relaxed and happy with what we've managed to do. We're happy for ourselves and for the people that have taken Inter back to the top, as well as for the fans. This triumph is one of the biggest achievements in my career; it wasn't an easy choice for me to go to Inter, at a time when the team wasn't used to winning. They were also a team that is the direct rival of Juventus, my former club."
On the remaining games:
"We'll need to play our part until the end of the season. We've won the league with four games to spare. We'll play our game against Juventus. It will be nice to go back to the Juventus Stadium: I coached there and now I'm an opponent."
The key moment of the season...
"The key moment was in the week after we got knocked out of the Champions League. We were criticised from all sides, in an exaggerated manner. This was a group of lads that weren't used to competing on all fronts. We did really well to band together and to take these - excessive - criticisms on the chin."
The joy right now:
"It's only right that we enjoy winning the Scudetto. We won't have meeting after meeting. We want to enjoy the moment. Then there will be time to take stock. It wouldn't be right to single out just one player; you win as a team. The team took us to this victory and the team has shown that they can put their trust in me. We've done it. The step that we took this year took us to the title. We'll enjoy it for now."
"We alternated various phases during the game. This team has excelled in all aspect. During a game, a team needs to know how to read the situation. We've waited when we needed to and we've pressed when we needed to. The boys have learned that, during a game, there's no one right way to read it."
Finally, a dedication:
"I want to dedicate this Scudetto to the people that are close to me, who live with me off the pitch: my wife, my daughter, my siblings. I want to thank Lele Oriali, who has been really important to me and was the person that has influenced these two years the most."
