EMPOLI – Nicolo Barella has now made 100 Inter appearances, having achieved the significant milestone in the Serie A fixture away to Empoli.
The 24-year-old’s century is made up of 73 games in Serie A, eight in the Coppa Italia, 13 in the Champions League and six in the Europa League, while his goal record reads five in the Italian league and one apiece in each of the other three competitions.
Barella’s Inter debut was on 26 August in a 4-0 thumping of Lecce in Serie A, while his Champions League bow came just a few days later against Slavia Prague.
The midfielder played a pivotal role in the club’s 2020/21 Scudetto success, racking up three goals in 36 league games. His sublime performances culminated in him receiving the award for the best midfielder in Serie A.
Barella joined the Nerazzurri ranks in 2019 after spells with Cagliari and Como and has since become a regular at international level, which has included success with Italy as he started the EURO 2020 final that the Azzurri won at Wembley in July.
