Lega Serie A has awarded the Philadelphia Coach of the Month for December to Inter head coach Cristian Chivu. In December, Inter played three Serie A matches, winning against Como, Genoa and Atalanta. With Wednesday’s victory away at Parma, the Nerazzurri extended their league winning streak to six consecutive matches, a run that began in November with the away game at Pisa.
Across the three December victories, Inter scored seven goals and conceded just one. After 18 matchdays, Inter sit top of the table on 42 points and boast the league’s best attack, with 40 goals scored.
The award was decided by a jury made up of directors of leading sports media outlets, who assessed coaches based on technical and sporting criteria, the quality of football played by their teams, and their conduct and fair play during matches.
“Cristian Chivu leads his players with grit, charisma and sense of belonging. He joined the Inter dugout with confidence, encouraging his players to move the ball quickly and press aggressively to win it back high up the pitch, while shaping his tactical ideas around the strengths of a squad that has reached the Champions League final twice in the last three seasons. Three wins from three matches in December sent Inter back to the top of the table, in a league that continues to thrill fans with constant twists and changes at the top.”
