Inter have a 100% record in the Champions League so far this season. Goals by Lautaro Martinez and Carlos Augusto won it for the Nerazzurri, who beat Kairat Almaty 2-1 at San Siro. Here's what Cristian Chivu had to say after the game:
“We'll take the win, which is the most important thing, even though we could've done better. I'm primarily responsible, and I take the blame if I didn't manage to get through to the players about how important this game is, because maybe a coiple of them underestimated it, even if only a little As a player, I experienced how tricky these games can be when you're playing every three days. You can easily get brough back down to earth by a team that seems weaker on paper. I take full responsiblity, and I will also take the three points. We needed a better performance to be a bit more secure, but I'm happy that we did get the win. For me, this a lesson in conveying the idea that we should be more dominant and have the right attitude. We didn't open the scoring early, and we didn't kill the game off. So, they stayed in the game, while we failed to capitalise and make the right decisions. The boys are good players, mature, intelligent, and they understand what didn't go so well today. If Lautaro asked me to play? No, I made the decision to start him and give him 45 minutes. I know how important it can be when a striker is in a rut to give him a chance. As captain and our talisman, he scored, and we're happy. But I'm also happy with the sliding block he made to stop the cross, because that's the spirit that we should have. Football is happiness, it's a game. You shouldn't overcomplicate it and conjure up negativity. You need to keep a smile on your face and give your all.”
