The Nerazzurri manager's words after Inter vs. Fluminese

Inter's journey in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 comes to an end. The Nerazzurri were knocked out in the Round of 16 in a competitive, hard-battled and rather unlucky match against Fluminense, opened in the third minute by Cano's goal. The goal was well defended by the Brazilian side despite constant pressing, close chances, the woodwork being hit and the final push from Inter who were desperate to find an equaliser by any means possible. However, right at the end of the game, Renato Portaluppi's boys made it 2-0. These are the Nerazzurri manager's words after the match:

“We are competitive, we have this drive to win, to do all we can to reach our goal. I will also take the positives from this Club World Cup: despite the struggles, many young players and new arrivals gave their all, so we must look at this season with a glass half full mentality with many matches, and some disappointment. But in this tournament, we gave our all to push on despite the difficulties we had. I think it was positive that a new manager and new staff got to know the group, identifying their strengths and weaknesses. It isn't easy arriving after such heavy disappointment, but I have seen that the guys are giving their all. But, you can do more and I for one demand it, but we need to be honest and stay grounded to move forward. We will do the analysis, today we tried right until the end to come back after a poor approach. We need to analyse the motives, but in the last 30 minutes we created chances to equalise but unfortunately it didn't go how we wanted. Wanting isn't enough, you always get what you fight for, but we tried, we could have had a better approach but football is like this. In the good and the bad you need to stay honest to keep progressing the project as this is the only way to reach our goals. 4-4-2? This was a test as what was done up to that point wasn't enough. We hit the post, and the bar, we had different chances. It could have been different but unfortunately it wasn't today.”
