FIFA Club World Cup
— Jun 29th 2025Three group games in two cities; against Monterrey in LA and Urawa Red Diamonds and River Plate in Seattle
A fascinating journey in a historic competition: Inter continue their campaign in the new FIFA Club World Cup, held for the first time in a revamped format mirroring that of the FIFA World Cup for national teams.
Having topped Group E with 7 points—thanks to a 1-1 draw against Monterrey and wins over Urawa Red Diamonds and River Plate—the Nerazzurri are through to the knockout stage. Chivu’s men will face Fluminense in the Round of 16 on Monday 30 June at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
After matches on the West Coast of the United States, in Los Angeles and Seattle, Inter now head to North Carolina. Here are the Club’s designated venues for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
CHARLOTTE
The knockout stage for Inter begins in North Carolina, where the Nerazzurri will face Brazilian outfit Fluminense in the Round of 16 on Monday 30 June.
The match will take place at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, a ground inaugurated in 1996 with a capacity of 74,000. Home to MLS side Charlotte FC and the NFL’s Carolina Panthers, the stadium has also hosted matches in the Concacaf Gold Cup and two knockout fixtures during the 2024 Copa América.
It won’t be Inter’s first outing at the Bank of America Stadium either. Back in the summer of 2016, the Nerazzurri played the final leg of their Inter Summer Tour in North Carolina, taking on Bayern Munich in a friendly at the aforementioned venue.
SEATTLE
It will be Inter's first time playing in Seattle. At Lumen Field, a stadium with a capacity for 70,000 spectators that hosts the NFL's Seattle Seahawks and Major League Soccer's Seattle Sounders FC, Chivu's team beat both Urawa Red Diamonds and River Plate. Against the Japanese side, the Nerazzurri secured their first win of the competition, turning it around thanks to Lautaro and Carboni. Then, they best the Argentinian giants by two goals to nil thanks to Francesco Pio Esposito to clinch first place in Group E and make it to the Round of 16, where they will face Fluminense.
LOS ANGELES
Inter's first match in the Club World Cup was against the Mexican team Monterrey at the Rose Bowl in LA. It ended in a 1-1, with goals from Ramos and Lautauro. The iconic ground in Pasadena has a capacity of over 92,000 and hosted the 1994 World Cup final between Italy and Brazil, with the Brazilians winning on penalties.
That wasn't Inter's first time playing in Los Angeles, nor was it the Nerazzurri's first match at the Rose Bowl.
In the summer of 2009, Inter, on tour in the United States, faced the UCLA Bruins (University of California team) on 17 July on the university campus. The game ended with a 2-2 draw (goals from Materazzi and Stankovic).
On 22 July, we played in a friendly in Pasadena against Chelsea: 0-2 with goals from Drogba and Lampard, a penalty.
