There are different ways to tell the story of the 21st Scudetto and different ways to analyse a winning season. Taking a closer look at the numbers of the Italian champions, one can see that it's been an incredible year on all fronts: from the goals scored to the clean sheets kept, from the wins to individual records. The statistics show that Chivu's side have dominated the league, bringing home a 21st domestic title.

THE SEASON'S JOURNEY

Inter clinched the title on matchday 35, confirming the trend of recent championships won by the Nerazzurri: this is the third consecutive Scudetto secured with at least three matchdays to spare, and in general the sixth title added to the trophy cabinet with this margin of games still to play, at least three more than any other club, from the 1950s to the present day. Inter surpassed 80 points in the standings for the 12th time in their history, the sixth of which has come from 2020 onwards. The numbers show how the Nerazzurri's season was a triumphant march towards the 21st Scudetto, despite a few stumbles at the very start of the campaign. Inter lost three of their first eight matches of the season (Udinese, Juventus and Napoli), becoming the only side in the competition's history to win the title following three defeats in the opening eight matches, level with Juventus in the 2015/16 season. After matchday 12, which brought a fourth defeat of the season, the Nerazzurri embarked on an unbeaten run of fifteen matches: two streaks of seven consecutive victories (a season record), broken only by the draw against Napoli on matchday 20. The Nerazzurri also boasted both the best home and away record in the league: 44 points earned at San Siro, thanks to 14 wins, two draws and two defeats, with 49 goals scored and 15 conceded. The Nerazzurri gathered 39 points away from home with 12 wins, two draws and three defeats, with 33 goals scored and 16 conceded. Chivu's side spent 23 matchdays at the top of the table, and were the team that spent the most minutes in the lead (1,630) and the fewest minutes behind (284) throughout the entire campaign.

82: THE BEST ATTACK

It's impossible to not start from this point. The attacking superiority shown by Inter was the pillar used by Chivu to win the 21st Scudetto. The Nerazzurri scored 82 goals in 35 matches, averaging 2.34 goals per match, 23 goals more than the second best attack in the league (Como's, who scored 59). In the last 75 years, the Nerazzurri have never scored so many goals in 35 matches.

27: GOALS FROM SET PIECES

The main weapon of this season, the attacking hallmark of the Scudetto. No team scored more goals from set pieces than Inter: 27 goals came from dead-ball situations, and the 17 strikes from corner-kicks mark a new competition record since this data has been available (2004/05 season), level with Napoli in the 2023/24 season. Another record-breaking statistic is that of headed goals: this season, Inter are the team that have scored the most headers (19) across the five major European leagues. An aspect of the game that proved fundamental in breaking down the most stubborn matches and unlocking the most defensively compact sides.

GOAL DISTRIBUTION

A closer analysis reveals the Nerazzurri's main attacking weapons, and also speaks to the remarkable variety of solutions and goalscorers in the final third. Inter were the team that scored the most goals from defenders (16) and from forwards (40), while finishing second for goals scored by midfielders (23). The Nerazzurri also topped the charts both for goals scored from inside the box (67) and from outside it (12), with three own goals in their favour rounding off the total tally. Chivu's side's ability to hurt opponents in multiple ways was one of the defining characteristics of the march towards the twenty-first title.

16 DIFFERENT SCORERS

The involvement of everyone proved decisive in reaching the goal: Inter have had 16 different players on the scoresheet over the course of the season (the fourth-best figure in the division), and among these were no fewer than six players with more than five goals to their name in this Serie A campaign, at least double the number of any other team in the competition (Lautaro, Thuram, Çalhanoglu, Esposito, Dimarco and Zielinski). Another area in which Inter stood out was goals scored from the bench (12), a figure that speaks to the importance of every single player's contribution in securing the league title. Scorers:

Lautaro Martínez 16 Marcus Thuram 13 Hakan Çalhanoğlu 9 Piotr Zieliński 6 Federico Dimarco 6 Francesco Pio Esposito 6 Ange-Yoan Bonny 5 Denzel Dumfries 3 Nicolò Barella 3 Yann Bisseck 3 Henrikh Mkhitaryan 3 Manuel Akanji 2 Alessandro Bastoni 1 Carlos Augusto 1 Luis Henrique 1 Petar Sučić 1

DOMINATING PLAY

Throughout the season, Inter put out an attacking style of play, with the aim of controlling matches and imposing their ideas on every opponent, and the data reflects the Nerazzurri's offensive supremacy. Inter led the way in total shots (608), shots on target (213), conversion rate (13.5%) and touches in the opposition box (1,197).

The Nerazzurri's build-up play meant that many of their dangerous moves originated from the flanks: Inter have attempted the most open-play crosses in this Serie A (604), from which eleven goals were created, another record in the 2025/26 season. The attacking imprint was also evident in individual numbers: Inter are the only team across the top five European leagues to have two players occupying the top two spots in the scoring charts (Lautaro with 16 goals, Thuram with 13). Two Nerazzurri players also top the assists rankings (Dimarco with 18, Barella with nine), and the two players with the most direct goal involvements are also both Nerazzurri (Dimarco with 24 goals and assists combined, Lautaro with 21).

DEFENSIVE BALANCE

The sharpest sword may not be enough to win a battle if it is not backed by an effective shield. The 21st Scudetto was secured not only thanks to the league's best attack, but also through a defensive unit that was balanced, aggressive and capable of neutralising opponents on numerous occasions.

17 CLEAN SHEETS

Inter have boasted the fifth-best defence in Serie A 2025/26 season, having conceded 31 goals in 35 matches, an average of 0.88 per game, but they share top spot with Como when it comes to clean sheets: on 17 occasions (15 times for Sommer, twice for Martinez) the Nerazzurri's goal remained unbreached. Those 17 clean sheets represent the best figure across the top five European leagues, level with Arsenal and the aforementioned Como. Inter were also the team that conceded the fewest headed goals (3, level with Juventus and Roma) and that allowed opponents the fewest shots (313).
