28 minutes of substance and quality, plus a crucial assist: Petar Sucic was a key figure in Inter’s victory over River Plate. The Croatian put in an excellent performance, notably picking out Francesco Pio Esposito in the build-up to Inter’s opening goal.
After the match against River Plate, Sucic joined Nerazzurri goalkeeper Yann Sommer in sharing his thoughts:
“I’m very happy – this was one of my first games with Inter and I gave everything. I knew today’s match would be very tough. For the opening goal, I saw the space and set up Pio, who did the rest. I need more time – it’s not easy joining a new team. I still have to get used to the team’s style and understand how my new teammates play and think. This is only my third appearance, but I’m delighted.”

“This was the toughest and best match of our tournament so far, against a strong and aggressive side. We did well and left a lot out there – it was a solid team performance. The young players? I think it’s very important to have them and for them to build confidence – they did really well today. The first days were tough, but now we’re 100% focused on this tournament. We keep moving forward and want to win our next match, too. We showed great character as a team, along with quality, and scored two fantastic goals. I’m very happy. When we’re involved in a tournament like this, we always want to win. However, we take it step by step. We’ll be up against a team we don’t know well, and we’ll need to deliver a strong performance.”
