Antonio Conte's Inter dominated the league to win the 19th Serie A title in the club's history. The season began in September, delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic and Inter's UEFA Europa League final appearance at the end of August. The decisive turning point came in the derby victory over AC Milan. Conte's side was built around a settled starting XI: Samir Handanović, Milan Škriniar, Stefan de Vrij, Alessandro Bastoni, Achraf Hakimi, Nicolò Barella, Marcelo Brozović, Christian Eriksen, Ivan Perišić, Romelu Lukaku, and Lautaro Martínez. Lautaro enjoyed an outstanding campaign, finishing with 17 Serie A goals, while strike partner Lukaku scored 24. Other key moments included the win over Milan and back-to-back home victories against Hellas Verona and Cagliari, both secured by Matteo Darmian's decisive goals. For almost the entire season, matches were played behind closed doors due to the pandemic. Inter mathematically clinched the Scudetto on 3 May thanks to the result of Sassuolo vs Atalanta. The title celebrations at San Siro took place on 23 May after the match against Udinese, when captain Samir Handanović lifted the trophy in front of 1,000 fans at the Meazza before greeting thousands of Nerazzurri supporters gathered outside the stadium.
