Soltanto un precedente tra Fluminense e Inter, in amichevole: era il 14 giugno 1961 e i brasiliani erano in tourneé in Italia. 50.000 tifosi accorsero a San Siro per vedere il nuovo acquisto Luis Suarez, appena comprato dal Barcellona. Il match terminò 1-1 con gli ospiti che sbloccarono la gara con Waldo a cui rispose Bicicli dieci minuti più tardi. Questo, inoltre, sarà il primo match in assoluto tra una squadra italiana e una brasiliana nella Coppa del Mondo per Club FIFA (compresi i formati precedenti). L'AVVERSARIO: IL FLUMINENSE

Il Fluminense si è qualificato al Mondiale per Club grazie alla vittoria della Libertadores nel 2023, la prima della sua storia, arrivata con un successo in finale al Maracanà contro il Boca Juniors ai supplementari con un gol di Kennedy (2-1 il risultato finale). Il Fluminense ha vinto 4 campionati brasiliani, trofeo che manca dal 2012 e 33 campionati carioca, cinque in meno dei rivali cittadini del Flamengo. Gli ultimi due sono arrivati nel 2022 e 2023: nel 2024 il Tricolor è arrivato quarto per poi essere eliminato in semifinale proprio dal Mengao, mentre quest’anno sono arrivati in finale ma sono stati nuovamente battuti dal Rubro-Negro. In Libertadores l’avventura dei campioni in carica si è fermata ai quarti contro l’Atletico Mineiro, poi finalista. Mentre, nel Brasileirao occupano attualmente il sesto posto con 20 punti, dopo undici giornate e ha chiuso al primo posto il proprio girone di Copa Sudamericana con sei vittorie, un pareggio e una sconfitta.

Il tecnico è Renato Gaúcho, vecchia conoscenza del calcio italiano. Ha infatti vestito da giocatore la maglia della Roma, nella stagione 1988-89. È l'unico brasiliano ad aver vinto la Copa Libertadores sia da giocatore che da allenatore. Arrivato ad aprile 2025, sotto la sua guida, il Tricolor carioca ha puntato su un solido 4-2-3-1. Il Fluminense ha giocatori di grandissima esperienza, che hanno avuto grandi carriere anche in Europa e sono tornati in patria: il simbolo è Thiago Silva, il capitano, tornato a casa a 40 anni. Altri due importanti elementi della rosa sono Fábio, leggendario portiere brasiliano di 44 anni, vanta oltre 507 clean sheet e 1.390 presenze, dimostrando ancora oggi riflessi eccezionali e Jhon Arias che è stato Man of the Match contro il Dortmund. Ala destra rapida e tecnica, Arias è uno dei giocatori più pericolosi.

Senza dubbio uno dei punti forti dei brasiliani è la solidità difensiva: Thiago Silva come detto è il punto di riferimento di una linea arretrata sempre attenta e aggressiva sulla palla, capace di mantenere le distanze e i compiti con grande disciplina. Anche i terzini contribuiscono con efficacia, chiudendo gli spazi sulle fasce come ali che si stringono per difendere. Il Fluminense può contare inoltre su Renato Augusto e Ganso a centrocampo, giocatori apprezzatissimi in Sudamerica che hanno avuto meno fortuna in Europa. Il bomber è German Cano, autore di 14 gol in stagione: i brasiliani hanno però perso da poco il leggendario terzino Marcelo, che ha rescisso il suo contratto nel mese di novembre.

INTER-FLUMINENSE, DOVE VEDERLA IN TV

Inter-Fluminense, gara valida per gli ottavi di finale del Mondiale per Club FIFA 2025, verrà trasmessa in diretta da DAZN. Il match è in programma al Bank of America Stadium di Charlotte lunedì 30 giugno alle 15:00 (le 21:00 in Italia).
